I really wanted to kick off 2009 with a few new series on the Brocade Blog, and one of those was to incorporate a local feature that discussed local lifestyles, music, decor, food, venues, people, events, and styles. For this inagural local blog, I'd like to feature some local music.
I love live music, and going out to see a great local band is amazing. Last August whilst driving in my car I was listening to the local MTSU station, WMTS, and heard this band that totally blew my mind. The band was Paper Route, and they are a Nashville-based Indie/electonica/super-awesome band (check out their site above or MySpace to hear some songs)-- fantastically, they are playing a show at the Exit/In in Nashville January 14, 2009 with Innerpartysystem.
Their most recent LP, entiteled Are We All Forgotten features a collection of great music (including the awesome song that started it all for me-- "You Kill Me"). I love their EP art, and have to share some of my favorites:
My favorite song (I am seriously a raving PaperRoute fan... I am not even kidding-- you're going to do yourself a favor by checking out their show at the Exit/In, and at $10 a ticket, how could you not afford to go!)-- but I digress. Favorite song, "Tearing the House Down", has an amazingly designed single cover:
I like this one too-- graphical, innovative, unique for the single "Let You Down"
Love this cover for a song with the lyrics, "Grant me this courtesy/let this be dead to me."
I really love the "Thrill of Hope" EP for the beautiful styling of the band's name in winter trees and foilage-- how innovative.
Be sure to comment and let me know what you think of the "Lovin' La Vida Local" feature and let me know if you think I should keep it up as a regular feature on the Brocade Blog!
